Center Overview
AMR Norman is a multispecialty clinical research site located in Norman, OK. The clinic was founded in 2016 as Intend Research by Dr. Lisa Connery. In 2022, Intend Research joined the prestigious Alliance for Multispecialty Research (AMR), an industry-leading company comprised of 17 of the most highly experienced clinical research centers in the United States. Partnership with AMR is by invitation only and is the culmination of a rigorous peer review and acceptance process. The AMR network serves as a hub for shared marketing, business development and best practices.
For medical research, Oklahoma offers a diverse patient population with one of the highest rates of both obesity and diabetes in the United States. The ability to recruit evaluable patients and produce high-quality study results are our site’s top priorities. Dr. Connery leads with extensive experience in endocrinology research and positions our team at forefront of innovation in the field.

Investigator Experience
Lisa B. Connery, MD
Principal Investigator- Family Medicine
Dr. Connery is board-certified in family medicine and has participated in phase 2 to 4 clinical research since 2005. She served as the Medical Director and Owner of Intend Research since April 2016. Under the AMR umbrella, Dr. Connery remains the Medical Director of the site and continues to play a crucial role in patient recruitment, retention, and study startup and maintenance. In June of 2022, Dr. Connery was asked to participate as an author in the New England Journal of Medicine, due to her and her team’s extensive experience with the investigational drug, Tirzepatide. She has conducted multiple trials with this study medication for the indications of diabetes and weight loss. The article was titled “Tirzepatide Once Weekly for the Treatment of Obesity”.In additional to her clinical trial experience with endocrinology, Dr. Connery has been a Principal Investigator on the following indications: cardiovascular outcomes, metabolic disorders, neurology, smoking, psychiatry, cancer screening, men’s health and vaccine trials. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She went on to attend the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, obtaining her Doctor of Medicine in 1988 and completing her residency in Family Practice in 1991. Dr. Connery has practiced family medicine in Norman, OK since 1991 and has owned and operated her own family practice since 2005. Additionally, she has served as a Medical Director for the Department of Health, Cleveland and McClain Counties since 2014.

Patient Demographics
AMR Norman is located in the third-largest city in the state of Oklahoma, with a population of 128,097 as of 2021. It is 20 miles south of OKC.
Norman was settled during the Land Run of 1889. which opened the former Unassigned Lands of Indian Territory to American Pioneer settlement. The city was named in honor of Abner Norman, the area's initial land surveyor, and was formally incorporated on May 13, 1891. Norman has prominent higher education, as it is home to the University of Oklahoma, the largest university in the state, with nearly 32,000 students.
According to the 2020 U.S. Census estimate, the population in Norman consists of 82,110 residents ranging in age from 18 to 65 — the primary target for most clinical research trials. The site is conveniently located near Oklahoma University. AMR Norman regularly recruits study subjects through advertising media, such as social media and internet advertising and through traditional media, including TV, radio and print.
