Oracle Launches Cloud-Based Volunteer Screening Registry with NIH
Computer tech company Oracle has teamed up with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a cloud-based volunteer screening registry — the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) Volunteer Screening Registry — to support COVID-19-related clinical trials. Oracle registered more than 100,000 people in the registry within a week of going live.
The CoVPN itself was initially established by NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The goal of the NIAID is to register millions of clinical trial volunteers for large-scale testing of monoclonal antibodies and vaccines to prevent COVID-19. Oracle hopes to accelerate NIAID’s goal by supporting hundreds of sites across the globe by the end of 2020.
